| no partners | | I hit the road at 0245 and headed down the highway, of course, I had my library of RUSH Cd's and the sort to keep me moving. The Love's on I-10 was my coffee and bear-claw breakfast stop.
I arrived at Proctor Road in Madera Canyon at 0610, which gave me plenty of time to look and listen before the sun crests over Wrightson. I spent a few hours seeking out my target species, the Varied Bunting. I was virtually blanked and it was getting hot, so I headed to Pena Blanca Lake.
I had hopes of seeing the Reddish Eggret at Pena Blanca, but those dreams were squashed when another birder said it had left ](https://hikearizona.com/dex2/images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif "Brick wall") But there were lot's of other feather goodies to see.
From here I headed to Tumacacori and saw some sweet Barn Swallows, purchased some great chili salsa and had an awesome smothered Green chili burrito, at Wisdom's cafe. From here I headed back to Madera to get the Bunting. Finally success!
Day 2:
Woke early and headed to the TTT truck stop for some stiff coffee and the proverbial Bear-claw danish. From here I went to Empire Ranch off of Hwy 83 and went looking for Sparrows. Ended up with some great Kingbird shots.
Larry Morgan was expecting me at Patagonia, so I hit the road. Met Larry at the Paton's house and we headed to Patagonia Lake to look for a Boobie  More like a Blue-Footed Boobie, a Mexican shore bird that is very rare to see, especially in SEAZ. We saw him and many other wonderful species. We also hit, Kino Springs in Nogales and the famous Patagonia rest stop.
Short triplog, but a great solo trip. |
