This is a wide trail that starts climbing immediately. I'm a big dude so I always rest after a decent climb. It took me about 50 minutes to get to the summit from the parking area. I went down the South side of the mountain and stopped at Cloud 9 for a few minutes and checked that off my Phoenix native bucket list. I continued down the South slope and turned East to loop back to the parking area. The climb and descent were a little steep but manageable. The loop back was mostly flat but very enjoyable. It felt like I was in the middle of nowhere yet I was in the middle of a large city. There were plenty of other hikers on the trail but it was nowhere near crowded. |
