WINDY!!! I picked a really windy day to go. Along the Pumpkin trail ridge on the way up the winds were very strong, as there is no cover. It was a struggle to walk for sections. The day after this it snowed, so I guess I picked a good day.

The burned area is interesting in its own way. It is amazing how large of an area got burned up. The last part of the Pumpkin trail up to the peak is a pretty steep section, and a good workout.

On the drive in I saw a herd of elk. On the drive out, I saw some antelope with a baby. Up top I saw what I think is some kind of grouse, but I'm not sure... The grouse let me get surprisingly close.

Very peaceful hike. I went by myself, and never saw another person all day long. There was nobody manning the lookout tower on top.

I've done the Kendrick trail several times, but this was my first time on Pumpkin and Bull Basin. They look to be much less traveled trails, but still easy enough to follow.
