My wife's uncle has a house on Main Street, so we just followed the road up to the trailhead. A fun hike up the drainage and around the red rock cliff walls to pretty views of Kanab and the surrounding area. There is a bench at the "top" that opens up to views to the north as well. A fun little, family-friendly hike. Lots of cool erosion effects to see along the way (sandstone cliffs cracked away from the redrock walls and on the verge of sluffing off into the drainage, etc.). In fact, it looked like there was a relatively recent rock slide that oscured the trail a bit and resulted in us wandering around off trail for a bit before we finally relocated the trail. Good times. More info on this hike at: http://trailskanab.com/squaw-trail/ |
