The road and parking area changed a little since my last visit, so finding it took a little extra time. However, after a few minor accusations of having no idea where we were going, it ended up being very popular with the target audience. Along the way, I discovered some very faint petroglyphs to the left of the ruins that I probably missed last time, and I briefly scrambled up the Comb Ridge side for a different view. From that vantage point, the true width of Comb Ridge is evident in a way that can't be grasped from a car.
This is also a good place to note that Mexican Hat Rock and its colorful sandstone backdrop were big hits on the way up, as was a brief tour of Valley of the Gods. |
