| no partners | | | My Pennsylvania hiking buddy recommended swinging by Taughannock Falls State Park near Ithaca on my way to Syracuse to check out their most excellent water feature. A quote from the park website, "Taughannock Falls State Park's namesake waterfall is one of the outstanding natural attractions of the Northeast. Taughannock Falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. Gorge and rim trails offer spectacular views from above the falls and from below at the end of the gorge trail." The excursion was definitely worth the trip! I followed the smooth and graded gorge trail an easy mile back to the impressively high falls. While the volume of water passing over the falls isn't on par with Niagara, there weren't any crowds on this Tuesday afternoon and entrance into the park was free!! |
