| partners | | I had read in Bruce's triplog that #6 was his least favorite of all the sections he had done at that point. So my expectations were pretty low.
We put a car at Gabe Zimmerman and headed down to Oak Tree Canyon. Suddenly something was crossing the road in front of us. What is...Is that...did you see that?! YUP, finally saw a mountain lion! So awesome. I got to see one in the wild, while I was safe and protected! My day was made, it didn't matter how boring the trail might be.
The chilly start got us setting a pretty good pace. It was a pretty backdrop with snow and frosty things. We ate lunch at 10.5 miles, listening to gun shots that felt too close.
As we arrived at Lakes Road and the start of #7 we saw hunters and their golden retrievers looking for quail. Most of our "elevation" was done at this point so we just kept moving. We took another break at 20 miles until it got too chilly to sit.
Going under the I-10 was strange, the tunnel is pretty tiny. It was amazingly clean tho, especially if you were to compare it to the tunnels on the Charles M. Christensen.
I saw a mountain lion!!! |
