Family hike to knock out the equestrian bypass trail and made a loop with a trail that IS shown on the white paper map of the Southern region - - but actually the City really must not want people on it. There were cactus bones laid out across the old ranch trail to allow for revegetation.
So we got a little lost finding it as the revegetation process has been effective!! But City needs to take the segment off the paper trail if they don't want people on it. It's not on the digital aerial photo maps at least.
Anyway - the Equestrian bypass is perfect for contrasting barrel cactus from saguaro. There's even one super-cool barrel GROWING out of the root of a saguaro (see photo set).
We all wore our bathing suits under our hiking clothes and went from the trail to our community pool for heated winter swimming and then little hot tub time. We have never gone swimming in the winter -- how crazy is that? Kids were so excited. |
