Canyon Lake Trailhead to Battleship Mountain is a splendid desert hike. Hike this area in the early spring. The hike is peaceful. Healthy senior citizens are usually out hiking this trail in the spring. The photo below tells the story of little shade along the way. Follow Boulder Canyon Trail #103 to La Barge creek. Weavers Needle is visible a few times further into the trail. Beautiful views of the Four Peaks, Canyon Lake, Battleship Mountain, and Weavers Needle reward the hiker. At the creek Battleship Mountain looms ahead calling. It's best to turn around here, as this is about the 3 mile mark. Making for a six mile round trip.
