Planned to do this one earlier in the week, and decided to stick with it despite the weather. There would be less wading and swimming was not even an option anymore. A band of rain sat over this part of the state and just didn't budge for most of the day. Temp hovered near 60 all day. It was after 1 before it stopped raining, and after 4 before the clouds broke. Nonetheless, this was a great exploring trip and the rain and water made everything super-saturated green everything smelled fresh. Only saw two deer and some fish, and surprisingly no bear scat at all.

We hiked up to where the canyon dries out and turned around at Colcord Canyon. There are some narrows farther up that appear to have some water, but we opted not to go that far. On the way back downstream, the rain had let up and it was a bit more pleasant, wandering in and out of the creek and enjoying all the flowers and creek scenes. Of course the sun came out for the hike back up the hill, but it's really short and easy, so not much of a big deal.

Took a cool time lapse of some clouds before heading back home. Here's a minute of some creek and sky: https://youtu.be/Jx ... KkUc

The day turned ugly on the way home as I witnessed a vehicle lose control on the Beeline, veer off the road, and roll multiple times. Just watching it happen, I knew it was not survivable, and when I approached the wreck it was confirmed. Took 20 minutes for DPS to arrive from Payson and another hour before we were able to leave the scene, after interviews and paperwork, etc. A good reminder that life is fragile and can end in the blink of an eye. RIP. Kudos to the first-responders. Some real professionals out there.
