I just learned on here that it's called Tomkins Trail 513 - it doesn't say that anywhere out there. It's not bad. There's even a stream and waterfall that flows sometimes ... also plenty of cows in the area - I have run into them on both visits. Most recent visit featured lots of blooming desert willows in the wash, a patchnose snake, and the cows. There are some remains of the old Horn Saloon that served soldiers from Fort Verde in the 1880's. There's nice birds, and rocks too. It doesn't compare to the hiking I used to have a mile from my house, but before I was spoiled by that, I would have been pretty happy with this place as my backyard ... so I will choose to be happy with it now. |
