Been a few years since I've been to Badger Springs, and it seemed like a nice day for a walk down the wash.
First time I've been here when there was no stream in the wash and no flow in the river - just pools.
I've gone gone up river before, so this time I went down river. I think up is better.
Saw a kingfisher several times, and two very large and very dead bullfrogs floating in a pool. Yuck!
On one previous trip here, I had one of my most memorable hiking moments ever - I plunged up to my thighs in quicksand on the riverbank and spent 15-20 fairly frantic minutes attempting to extract myself ... at least no quicksand today.
Also no UPS drivers hiking down the wash in uniform this time - I had the place all to myself.
