| no partners | | This has been on my wish list for a while now and I was looking for something different, and out of town, for a hike this morning. Left the house at 4:30 and got to the trailhead at 6:30, only to find someone else was already parked there! WTF! I thought the dirt road in was in really good condition, or maybe airing down the tires on the Jeep once I got off the pavement made a big difference. Regardless, the views on the road in are spectacular and worth the price of admission alone! The trail up to the saddle is fairly grown over and there is pretty much no trail to the top from the saddle. There are a number of cairns placed on the way up which are helpful in keeping you out of the thickest of the treefall and brush. Views from the top are great! Just one entry in the summit register between me and ddgrunning from last month. Going down was easier, but I did wonder around quite a bit more. 66 degrees at the trailhead for the start and 84 when I returned. Lack of clouds this morning still made it feel plenty hot though. There was a little pool of water in the rocks on the summit. |
