The approach was an easy walk over, and the lower section of the canyon proved to be nicer than expected... and it held in that vein for the entire length of the canyon. Huge boulders providing lots of full body play... nice bedrock walkways... entertaining rock textures, and towering cliff walls closing in all around. Below the upper Narrows we encountered an interesting Quarry section... and said hello to a stoic Indian Keyhole Totem. As we ran into our turn around time we were closed down by a very narrow chimney formation... ropes would be needed for safety. I think we'll come back and drop in from above to check out the upper portions?
We exited the cliff bases high... traversed around to W7 and got lucky making our way down through the various cliff ledges... amazing colors and textures all around...
Second descent down W7... it is a great bedrock exit route. There are 10-12 of these West canyons to check out... lots more exploratory outings! |
