This trail starts off in the Sonoran desert and quickly moves through the canyon and just keeps going up. Relentless incline all the way to the saddle. I actually had to turn around just before the saddle because of water running down some flat sheet rock. I was surprised how slippery it became and I decided I wasn't experienced enough to keep going without someone who had done this hike before. Another hiker on the way down told me there was some ice a little further up that made for some dicey footing up ahead. I was disappointed but decided I'd rather live to try this one again. For some reason I had a lot of cactus needles sticking me a lot on this hike too. It's a really hard hike that you should definitely be in good shape for if you plan on making it all the way to Mt. Kimball. Can't wait to give this one another try. |
