| no partners | | Wanted to get to Wasson Peak in the shortest amount of time so we decided to hit the King Canyon Trail. We started around 2:30pm and the weather was sunny and almost 70 degrees. The trail is well maintained all the way to the peak and it's very easy to follow. The only exception is near the mam-a-gah picnic area about 1 mile in, you have to make a right up the trail out of the wash. It's pretty clear to see the trail, but if you're not paying attention, I could see how you could miss it. I was surprised that there is no signage there marking the king canyon trail given how clear the signs are throughout the rest of the hike. As you continue to the peak the view gets better and better. There are some switchbacks about a mile from the peak that will give your legs and lungs a good workout. The views from the peak are awesome. We left the peak an hour before sunset and made it back to the car just in time before it got too dark. |
