I found it was pretty easy to get to, there is a parking lot right off of Vulture Mine Rd, it's well marked. The first mile and a half are pretty flat. Lots of nice scenery around there. When you come to the base of the mountain, it begins to get steep. There's a few switchbacks and then you finally come to the saddle. Great views here too. At this point, the peak is only an intimidating climb that is almost straight up, but I found it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be coming down. The views from the top are pretty cool. It's a quick stroll back to the parking lot on the way down. I would do this hike again for sure, even though it's a bit of a drive. Took me about an hour and 15 minutes from old town Scottsdale. |
