So I head up to Superior after work on Saturday and meet a few friends for some camping/climbing. The original plan was to climb the Totem Pole in Lower Devil's, but the road down there got the best of one of the tires on my friends truck. Since it was already dark we just set up camp right where he got the flat and figured we'd deal with it in the morning. After a night full of camping festivities, we woke up and had some breakfast (screwdrivers count, right?) Come to find out his recently purchased truck didn't have any of the tools necessary to change the tire. Since it was already getting later and the plan for the Totem Pole was trashed we decided to do what any responsible, mature person would do. We ditched the truck and went climbing at the pond. I lead a couple different routes, taught a twelve year old to belay, and we got a new climber on the wall for the first time. What a good day. Great routes, Queen Creek rock, this is definitely an area I'll be back to. Now about that truck... |
