| partners | | Headed up to the rim and did a loop from Dane Spring TH down U-Bar, off trail up to an old logging road near West Moonshine Spring, from there we continued on old roads and dropped into Yeager Canyon to make a loop back to the trailhead. We saw no one except a large group camped near the trailhead who were doing some elk habitat study/restoration work.
We saw two strange “gateways” with wire stretched between trees or posts at least 10 feet above the ground? Definitely pretty old so perhaps something to do with logging
Saw a large elk and calf on the way in and a fast moving herd of elk / deer above Yeager Canyon. Stopped at That Brewery on the return
Heading back there was a brush fire along the Beeline just south of Sugarloaf turnoff. |
