| partners | | After several months of planning mid July finally arrived and the three of us were off to the Sierras for five days of fun and adventure. We left Tempe on Tuesday night and spent the night in Barstow. We then headed for Mammoth Lakes the next morning and stopped by Convict Lake for a quick warmup hike. This lake has been on my radar for several years and I'm glad to finally check it off the list.
We parked right next to the lake and started hiking in a clockwise direction. The going is very easy and the views are just spectacular. We made several stops along the loop and Chumley went for a quick swim. The southwest side of the lake features an elevated boardwalk above the creek. This is a really scenic and fun area. There were lots of boaters out and this area was their ideal chill spot.
This loop took about an hour and we then headed into Mammoth to set up camp. Afterward we did a couple of easy hikes in the area. We plan on driving into Yosemite tomorrow so we're easing in to our vacation. |
