We went slowly as it was our day-off and we were out to enjoy ourselves. We stopped at a little spring to get icy cold, yummy water. We also paused at nearly every alpine flower and crack in the ground. The hike has no trail or route so we just made our own way by the landmarks we had been given to guide our way. Soon, we were starting our steep descent from the saddle to the first false peak. We went down and then back up. When we reached the crux of the climb we paused for a break. I hadn't realized that the downclimb we needed to do was likely in the 5 ratings, otherwise I would have at least brought some webbing to protect the climb. I was prepared to call this peak our personal summit. After some food we started to get brave and soon all three of us had all climbed down. Then we were on our final push to the top!
This rarely visited peak gives you an awesome overview of the area. We could see all the way to Glacier Park, the Swan Range, and much more! This peak meant even more to me as I was able to see a lot of the land that I had covered on a backpack in the area last summer. |
