| partners | | Since we had someone along who wasn't a canyoneer so I came up with an idea that would still be cool for all and include her. We put our packrafts in before the Paria Riffle. The Paria was silty as it ran into the Colorado and it mixed in changing the color from the green the day before.
We all floated through the riffle - even John who was in an Explorer 200 with crappy paddles (he lent his Alpaca to his GF for the day). As I started through the riffle, my out pumpkin meter when off. I kept myself calm by just reminding myself over and over to keep paddling. Maybe someday I'll be able to work myself up to running a GC rapid in my raft!
As we floated we played with our water guns, splashing each other to keep cool. The breeze on the river was mostly pleasant! Soon, the sound of Cathedral Wash was heard. We were all sad that we had to get out. John, Airkewl, and Kim ran Cathedral Wash Rapids in their alpacas while the rest of us watched.
The hike up Cathedral was amazing!!! We did some scrambling to get up on ledges to work around pools of red sandstone mixed with water. The day was hot as it was noon as we were hiking. However, we were often in the shade so it was a pleasant hike.
