On Saturday afternoon, we hiked the southern 6 miles of the trail from Mills Ridge Trailhead to the bridge over Roosevelt Lake. It was a hot day, but great views of Apache Lake and Roosevelt lake near the end of that section. We stayed overnight at Bermuda Falls Campground and hit Pigeon Springs Trailhead early Sunday morning and hiked south to Mills Ridge Trailhead. The weather was much cooler and we even had sporadic rain falling. Lots of forest trees and leaves on the ground. Parts of the trail were also a little rocky but not too bad. We did not run into any water sources along the trail, all the springs and creeks were dry. Great day to hike a really nice part of the Arizona Trail. |
