Hiked this passage with Sandy and Maria. We car camped at Doll Baby Trailhead on Friday night. We started around 8am and hiked this passage south, and a good portion of the terrain was rocky, especially a downhill portion that is nothing but rocks. There were large red rocks, and of course white rocks (which looked more like fossils or large bones). Beautiful views. There was water at Whiterock Spring. We stopped at Polk Spring for a break and I took that opportunity to refill my own water supply. We crossed the East Verde River and found our way to the dirt road leading to LF Ranch. This is the road we had to follow for approximately 4 miles to get back to our vehicles at Doll Baby Trailhead. Even the road itself was a challenge, with some rocky sections. The sky was nice and clear, and temps were a little hot but not too bad. Crows hovered overhead, squawking at us, and at some point along the trail we could hear turkeys but we never saw any.
