| no partners | | I have been really slacking on the hiking during the holidays so I just had to get out this morning, rain or no rain... and there was rain. It was just sprinkling when I started off on 14th Street. We went up and over Echo Mountain to the valley between it and the 51. It was cool to see all of the small washes flowing. Got to the bridge under the 51 and there was some water flowing from above and was just enough to get my feet wet. The plan was to hike to that small old rock house off the 1A trail. We went through Dreamy Draw park and then it started pouring. Hung out under the ramada for 20 minutes waiting for it to calm down a bit and realizing it was not letting up, decided to go back to the Jeep. The trail back to the bridge was now a small river that was knee deep. This also made for some very cool waterfalls along the trail. The tunnel under the bridge had also become a small river. Lots of water was now flowing through the gate from the freeway. Trudging through the knee deep water took about 7 minutes to get myself and the dog through. Hiked back through the valley and up and over Echo again. I love hiking in the rain and added bonus was I didn't see another person the entire hike. |
