Wanted to go somewhere new and get some good pumpkin whoopin in.. I was not disappointed. Once again started with the headlamp for the first hour or so. I am so eager to get an early start, but I miss some scenery and it is kinda creepy out there at night. Didn't see much that first hour, I just remember going up, up, and up. Got to the first small saddle and ditched the light. Then it was up, up, up again. Coming up and over West Boulder Saddle overlooks a beautiful valley and it was perfect timing as the sun started rising. One of the best things about hiking in the Supes is that every time you push up to a break or saddle there is another amazing view! The hike along the ridgeline there was a nice change of pace until it was time to go back up again. There were 3 separate sections where it was pretty much straight up for about 500 ft, so you totally earn those breaks. After leveling out after one of those pushes I let out a victory yell and startled some animals out of some bushes and they took off straight up the hill. They were very large with big white rear ends but no horns, so I'm going with mule deer. The trail was easy to follow the whole way. Made it to the summit in 3 hours exactly. The top part was very cool! It was like a maze with those hoodoos up close. Spent 20 or so minutes up top enjoying the views and reading the triplogs in the register box. Looked over to FlatIron and visualized the whole ridgeline in my near future. Made it back down in only 2 hours. People think going up hill is the hard part, they are incorrect. I only slipped once but my knees we aching for sure after that pounding coming down. I did make sure to enjoy some of those views I missed on the way in. One of those being a pretty distinct and fresh cat print in the sand on the trail. :scared: I didn't see anyone the whole time until I got back to the trailhead and there were about 20 people headed to the wave cave, so I had perfect timing.

**Side note** Why does it seem when there are rock cairns all over the trail, they are never at the spots where they are actually needed?? Not to worry, the spray-painted white dots reflect the headlamp very well..

Super glad to finally check out that side of the ridgeline, and I already cannot wait to go back!
