| | 5.3 | | | | | | | I got off work at 1pm Friday, so Liz, Tyler and I decided to do something super quick. I had to pick up my car from the shop first, so wasn't able to meet them up there until 2. The park was closing at 5:30, but they apparently want you off the rocks about an hour before then, so you don't accidentally get locked in and end up with trespassing fines. So we had a short window to work with here.
We decided to just bring one rope, so packed that up along with some gear, threw on our harnesses, and booked it up the trail around 2:45. Ended up at the base of the climb in maybe 10-15 minutes, if even. Liz has led this several times, so she was a super quick lead. Slowest part was getting up the "4th class" offwidth section -- really not all that difficult, but definitely slows you down. I had comfort in the fact that if I fell here, my body would just become a giant cam.. just would have been a lot of effort getting back out! I was on a bight and Tyler brought up the end about 20 feet behind me. We got up to the anchors quickly, then set up for the second pitch. All three of us were up the second pitch in 20 minutes. Super quick! Rappelled twice on my 70m rope, then sauntered on down to the trailhead. The whole thing took less than two hours. Packed up the cars and then went to JJIII's for tacos 'n' tequila. |
