Liz, Holly and I really wanted to go climb the Thumb, but the day didn't look like it would be cooperating. Super wet, very foggy. It didn't rain much all day, but there was no chance for anything to dry. We decided to pack up all the gear anyway, and if it turned out we couldn't climb, then it'd just be a nice training hike.

I've never been to Tom's Thumb before, so wasn't sure what to expect. It was so cloudy that we didn't get views of it until we were maybe 30 yards away. Definitely made the hike feel longer. Met some other climbers descending the trail who had given up because all the cracks were wet. We got to the base, took a peek at everything, then sat down and had some cheese and other snacks. Decided that wet cracks and wet slab were no fun, and took everything back down the trail. It was a nice hike, but just a little disappointing we couldn't get on anything.
