| no partners | | I used to caddy at Whisper Rock. It's a pretty special place. At the edge of the Upper Course is a rugged hill that features dramatic boulders and rocky outcroppings. I've carried many golf bags past here, but the members never gave me the chance to see the view from the summit. Until today! 
The summit is inside the gated Winfield Community and is apparently known colloquially as Winfield Mountain. My access was from the east, after parking at the corner of 81st Street and Dove Valley Road. After a short stretch along the Whisper Rock boundary wall, I was able to make my way along the 12th hole before ascending toward the peak above the elevated 13th tee box.
I'm guessing there's occasionally a wait at the 13th because there were dozens of golf balls that had been purposefully hit into the mountain. 
A nice little hill to climb, great views of the golf course, and some impressive real estate too. |
