There was ice on the road in the steep section near the trailhead, but not enough to cause any problems. The trail to the ruins follows a stream down Rogers Canyon, with probably over 20 crossings. There was plenty of water in the steam and made some of the crossings interesting, especially as you near the ruins and the volume increases. There not a lot to the ruins, but what is there is impressive. You do have to take some risk to get to the best of the ruins with a great deal of exposure climbing up the side of the cliff. A very enjoyable hike in the Superstition Wilderness for sure. After the hike, we completed the Montana Mountain loop in the Jeep and headed to Porter's Cafe on Main Street in Superior for some DELICIOUS burgers and beers. |
