| partners | | Third time back for me and second time for Gallydoll. We were joined by Mel and Linda for the hike today. Got to the trailhead at 7am and 41 degrees. The cars left overnight at the parking area had a coating of frost on them. The drive in on Hewitt Canyon Road was better than I was expecting and we made good time, even made the last switchback without backing up.
Plenty of water in the creek right from the start. Vegetation starting to encroach on the trail, which gets worse after the Arizona trail split. Plenty of waterfalls and butterflies along the way to the ruins. It appears that reckless visitors have been taking their toll on the ruins. The hike back certainly feels longer than the hike in!
Took the long way into Superior for some burgers at Porters. The long way is rougher than the way in. Nothing that can't be completed in a 4wd. |
