After arriving at the AZ Canyoneering Rendezvous, we looked around for a less commonly run canyon to sign up for.

We found only incomplete beta for this canyon, and none of our group had ever run it, but that just added a fun challenge to my way of thinking. Turned out to be a beautiful canyon with a nice amount of water flow over the waterfalls on this day. The beta we did have didn't exactly line up with what we were seeing, but with an array of natural anchors to select from, that was no surprise. In canyon, we couldn't figure out the purpose of the secondary station on the longest rappel and didn't utilize it. But after re-reading the beta, I realize previous parties were using a different anchor for the first section of that rappel, resulting in a difficult pull. We had no issues and were able to just enjoy the beauty of the canyon.

Interesting canyon - it is well hidden from above and you would really never know anything particularly interesting was down there unless you happened to hear the water flow. We enjoyed splashing around in the water and just generally having a good time. Our selected route out was a terrible scramble up a steep ridge, complete with bush-whacking through cacti and agave. But it was over quickly, so we were all happy for that.

We used a lifted pickup to access the 4X4 alternate start/end point. In the end, that road is such slow going that we probably spent more time driving than it would have taken to hike in and out on the Y-Bar (Shake Tree) Trail. Probably not worth it depending on your vehicle and patience.
