| no partners | | We choose to do a wet canyon as our last hoorah. It turned out to be spectacular. It also was non-technical. Which had I known at first I probably would have objected to it. But it was awesome! I also recommend doing suchwoth a guide because they know all the little secrets. We did jumps, slides, and siphons that I would never have done by myself. Crazy, scary, and fun! It was very cold as well. By the end I couldn't feel my feet or hands. But it was so worth it.
Our guide typically would give us a few instructions and then expect us to do whatever he said. I found that really hard as I like to know what the end result was. However for the most part I played along. There was one spot where I bulked. We were in a grotto formed by a waterfall and the noise was pretty deafening- it hadn't heart rate up. He told me I needed to gothru a siphon that was below where my feet was. I had no idea what would happen after that but I freaked because I couldn't imagine holding my breath long enough to get down there and then propel myself they whatever the unknown water feature was. Nope! The Russians were also scared so they refused as well. That kinda made me feel guilty as I was the experienced person and I couldn't do it! But let's face it, survival instincts can keep you alive!
Anyway, the rest of the canyon was pretty heart stopping g without being extremely scary so I wasn't truly disappointed with myself.
The end was a big surprise. We got to climb out using a via Ferrari that our guide had put up and others don't really know about. Did I mention the advantages of going with a guide? |
