There wasn't much info to be found online, just some directions saying to park in a gravel lot on the west side of the road on Hwy 101 between milemarkers 314-315. It turns out there are two lots, and both have paths which meet up and lead down to the rocks. Either parking lot will have roughly the same distance and aeg.
My kids, parents, and I parked at the more southeast lot, and followed the trail west towards the rocks. It's an easy to follow path in good condition. The top park of the trail had a lot of flowers, and views to the west and south. Once meeting up with the path from the other parking area, the trail turns to the southwest and towards the rocks, now following an old dirt road.
We headed to the largest of the three rocks first. It had some sea caves worn into the base of it, with the water dramatically crashing through. I could have carefully climbed down closer to the water, but my parents were having none of that, so I took some pics and headed over to the next cave. There are some secluded beaches on both sides of the rocks, so we headed over to the other rock (can only get to two, the third is offshore) and down to the beach on the south side of the rock.
The old road leads down to this beach, where I think there may have been a dock at some point in history. There's some old concrete and pieces of ships scattered around. The kids found a live hermit crab, and played with him for a while, and also found a live starfish. Reagan was beyond excited with the sealife. After exploring that small beach, we headed back uphill and returned to the car. This was a very fun area, with a lot to explore in a short amount of time. |
