| partners | | Did three trails at the John Day Fossil Beds--Painted Hills area: Leaf Fossil Trail, Red Hill Trail, and the Painted Hills Overlook.
The Leaf Fossil Trail is kind of boring. Apparently the hill the trail loops around has (or had) a lot of fossils, but you can't get close enough to see anything.
Red Hill Trail is easy, and circles halfway around a...red hill. There's a bench at the end of the trail.
Painted Hills Overlook looks out over the most colorful section of the area. Basically a miniature Painted Desert. We walked to the end of the path, took some pictures, and walked back. |
