| no partners | | With all the Arizona peaks I've tackled, I don't know why the Flatiron hasn't been on the list. Well Mike Mattes and I set off today to correct this. All I can say is this hike exceeded expectations. Although the trail was a regular freeway complete with rush hour traffic, everyone was friendly and seemed to have a story to tell. Checked out some of the foundation remains from the old Palmer Mine.
Siphon Draw had a small amount of water flowing down the sculpted slickrock. Also did a walkabout on top of the Flatiron exploring some of the Ridgeline Trail. Spent a couple of hours checking out the numerous vistas. This is a fantastic workout hike that's making my right knee bark at me as I type this. Gotta find a couple of aspirin!
PS. Must be living right. When we made our way back to my truck parked in the Saguaro day-use area and flipped down the tailgate to enjoy a cold beverage, a swimsuit photo-shoot was in progress using the Superstition Mountains as a backdrop. Couldn't help but to pick up a couple of photo tips... |
