Loop hike with Skippy from East Sapium Way TH onto the preserve to the box canyon eventually joining the Ray Road Access Trail. Saw a very large owl fly away from its roost up in the shadows of the box canyon wall. Also got "buzzed" by a couple of green hummingbirds. They were too quick for any photographic evidence...

Lot's of green grass sprouting from the desert floor with some brittlebush blooming in the larger washes.
