| no partners | | Spur of the moment decision to get a quick and easy hike out of the way. Arrived at to a trailhead packed with SAR vehicles at about 1600. Chatted with one of the members who said they were out looking for a hiker who had gone missing on Saturday. I felt bad being on trail, but she assured me that they didn't mind, so off I went.
Very overcast and breezy, temps probably in the mid to high 50s. Wildcat Mountain is completely covered in trees and offers no view, so I kept hiking further until I came to a nice viewpoint along the ridge. Didn't feel satisfied turning around yet, so I kept hiking to the junction with Plaza Trail to add some additional mileage before turning back. A light rain started on the return hike and by the time I reached the trailhead at 1900 it was coming down steadily. |
