Well this wasn't the most exciting ruin I've visited in awhile but surprisingly it was one of the more interesting ones. About a year ago I spotted a clearly visible ruin wall on top of a hill just off a forest road. It's near the Beeline Highway, south of Sunflower. Ha. I found it the old school way.. In person. It was summer when I first found it. It was hot and I didn't feel like climbing up there. It's not exactly difficult. Just park the car and walk up the hill. Barely over 100 vertical. I had some time while driving home from something else on Friday so I finally did it.

It's a boulder pile butte with a large open flat area on top. The main perimeter wall is mostly on the west and north edge. A few other random gaps have been filled in. I have to say.. That is one strange butte to walk around on. It's hard to explain and it wont convey in photos. You just have to see it for yourself. Numerous odd small low wall rooms and rectangular rock piles. The dwelling rooms and in very bad shape and nearly buried. You have to look close for the out of place clues to really even notice most of them. The more you start to look, the more you see. The other really curious oddity were all sizes of black slabs of rock that don't exist on that mountain. They were all brought in from distant locations. Some were very large. Other visitors have displayed some of the black slabs on boulders. Many are just where they've been sitting. It's not overly uncommon to find unusual rocks at ruin sites that were brought in but to find so many just scattered around was weird. At least I thought so. Like I said in the beginning. This place is strange. I have no doubt that it's an Indian ruin site. It's just a bit different than most I've visited over the years. It was interesting. I'm glad I finally checked it out. If you're in to this sort of thing, I recommend doing the same. It's short and easy.
