The trail was easy to follow and had no appreciable elevation gain until the very end and, boom!, there are the first petroglyphs. After the first several panels, you drop down into a drainage to the right and make your way up some minor pourovers, stopping frequently to admire the artwork and ponder their meaning. The “trail” ends at a large pool (dry during our visit) and it’s up to the visitor to scramble up to more and more panels. This site is reportedly unique in that there is an image of a female shaman (a rarity). You can return the way you came or climb up above the main pourover and circle around the hill back to the trail. It's about a 1.8 mile hike, roundtrip. |
