I had heard about the stone house, and printed out a topo, showing two buildings on it. But once I had started hiking I found that the trail led to a dirt road, and I could have easily driven right to the stone house. The second building on the map is no longer there. I went into the area, which showed a lot of signs of a small mining operation, and I assume the building was wooden and has long since disappeared.
On the other hand, looking at the GPS route, maybe I didn't go far enough down the canyon for the more southerly building. The other one just may be shown in the wrong place on the map.
I keep forgetting to bring a camera. My cell phone takes lousy photos, out of focus.
