Once you cross from the state park land to the Tonto National Forest the trail turns to ankle twisters for most of the trek up the mountain. This was a Saturday morning and the trail was also VERY busy.
We hiked up to the waterfall, which, according to my map is 2.2 miles. The waterfall was but a trickle but the view back down the mountain was incredible with a perfect breeze to cool you down from the journey up.
The area around the falls is slick rock, which was a first for us to see so much of this. It was a little intimidating at first until we realized that our hiking boots stuck like glue on the rock.
A wonderful hike that I would highly recommend. |
