Second hike of the first day of our three-day Sierra Ancha trip. While it covered new ground for us, there was nothing special about the hike, just plenty of wind, grass and rocky terrain with a herd of cattle thrown in.

In fact it was so mundane, we decided to bail out on our plan to camp on the mesa and headed east back to Young Highway and hopefully find a nice campsite along Forest Road 609. Luckily we found the prefect site. Easily accessible yet we would not see or hear another soul until our return trip on Thursday. Although... truth-be-told, the windy, 34-degree overnight low forced Tracey to make use of her emergency blanket.
