This would've been a much longer/harder hike if it wasn't for the 4Runner. Instead, although I was on edge (literally), I was able to drive the narrow 4wd road to the trailhead. This was beautiful and other-worldly from the start. Lots of abandoned mining equipment, alpine lakes, solitude, and an eery storm gave this hike plenty of character. The views made me feel like Sean Penn in "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty." A great "day off" followed by an amber ale to capture the autumn feel! |
