| no partners | | A late afternoon into evening loop hike in MMRP: Escondido, Pemberton, and back on Shallmo.
The Four Peaks Trailhead was bustling with activity from workers setting up for Ragnar this coming weekend. A long line of chemical toilets created a long corridor around which I had to drive in order to park. An even longer line of toilets was set up lengthwise through the parking lot. Tents made it (intentionally?) difficult to access the trails there.
I now realize that the signage that I had observed on the trails last Monday is for the upcoming Ragnar race. This matches with similar signage that I had seen last year preceding Ragnar.
Aside from the commotion at the trailhead, the trails were quiet. I was surprised that no one was around when I returned. As I recall, when I hiked there last year, there was still a presence after nightfall. |
