The hike started out chilly, a little bushy and damp under a colorful morning sky. Then it was pretty much flat and barren for a long stretch. The last third of the hike was the best, including some cool saguaros in the 12-15 mile range. Nearly continuous gunfire from the range on Table Mesa Rd over the last few miles disrupted what would have been a very quiet ending to the hike.
This looked like good ATV country but we didn't see any. One jogger, one hiker and four mountain bikers were all the traffic we saw on the trail. The trail was rocky in spots, but pretty good most of the way. Better for bikers and runners but also good for hikers looking for some easy walking in the low desert.
The weather was just about perfect, the company even better. Thanks for the invite Bruce and Joe. As always, I had a great time! |
