| partners | | We embarked on our trip right from our camp. The way down was a bit precarious due to loose rocks on a steep slope. Soon we found a trail to follow until we started the technical section of Weeping Springs.
We had a big but very capable team of 7. We carried 5 ropes for 9 rappels which really streamlined the trip. All the anchors were natural including cairns and knot chocks.
For the final rappel we blew up our pack rafts and then attached them to our harnesses and rappeled down to the Colorado River. Almost at the bottom of the rappel we had to get our boat ready, then slowly drop ourselves correctly in the boat without capsizing. I went first successfully with a bit of struggle. After Scott got down he helped the others while I took photos.
From there we rafted a short way down the river. Then we thought we were more or less done. Nope! There were fun upclimbs to do that required some thought and teamwork. Beautiful canyon!
It was nice to climb out of the canyon and be in camp! |
