| partners | | Five of us loaded up our camp and then went to the Goldstrike Trailhead to leave a car. From there we proceeded up the road to where Ropewiki recommended parking for Motorcycle Canyon. On a previous trip Joel had driven further and said the road might be worse so we decided just to walk the mile on the road.
After the first rappel it was apparent why the canyon was called Motorcycle. I guess someone decided to try canyoneering on one. Hopefully, the person didn’t die as a result.
The canyon had 4 nice rappels and some fun downclimbing.
After we finished the canyon, we headed down Goldstrike to a hot spring. We kept wondering why no one was there since there was a pretty steady stream of people going downcanyon. We climbed in and enjoyed a nice soak before we headed back up canyon to the cars.
A storm rolled in while the car shuttle was being completed. So three of us crowded in the front of Joel’s Outback to stay out of the rain while we waited.
After that we ate dinner at the Boulder Dam Brewington company and then drove to Death Valley. |
