At 530' above sea level, I think this is one of the lowest elevations I've started from in this state. We pushed our way to the ENE. This was a CCW loop with the first target being the saddle between Peak 1899 and Peak 1574. Once up here, good views to the east, then a couple of hundred feet back down to the wash and then a turn to the north.
Now for the fun to begin. We turned up a new wash to make our approach to the top. Part way up, JJ and Joe suggested a more direct assault than what we had planned. Reaching a wall, Denny opted for the "safety first" approach, swinging slightly right of the other 2.
The final climb up to 2275' was a steep, Cholla filled nightmare. Go slow and pick your path. I met JJ up there who had been waiting a while (I heard him cuss the cactus once on the way up). Joe was shortly behind followed by Denny looking like a Teddy Bear with the friends he'd picked up on the climb.
From here we had great 360 views.

Bunyon Peak was now just a 1/2 mile North of us. Up top is a corrugated steel ramp that empties rain into a trough and finally into a collection tank to feed the wild life.
Bunyan Peak had equally great views. After a shot stop, we started our way down. This was also slow going. Not as much Cholla, but steep and loose. Sometimes I think JJ has hoofs. He makes short work of that terrain.
Down in the wash now, just a fast slog back to the truck. Great weather, great company, and got to experience some more new area. Thanks for driving JJ.
