There are 26 panels of rock art produced by Archaic peoples and Utes. The site is not open to the public and advance reservations must be made with an interpretative guide. Our guide for the afternoon was Alma Evans. Her personal experience of growing up in the Shavano Valley (her relatives still ranch there) made the tour extra special. She has made great efforts to connect with persons from the Ute tribe to gain insight into the possible meanings of the petroglyphs and her enthusiasm is contagious.
